Why can't Leonardo Win?
He's just too pretty? Can't think of any other reason
"Let me tell you something. There's no nobility in poverty. I've been a rich man and I've been a poor man. And I choose rich every fucking time."
I just feel compelled. Because what happened at the Oscars was daylight fucking robbery! And I had already predicted this. I knew Leo wouldn't win. This was not a planned post. And to be honest whether Leonardo Dicaprio wins an oscar or not is not going to change my life. Neither will it make his life better than it already is. I hear people saying poor Leo. Pleeease! Leo is far from poor, literally or figuratively.
Leo is super wealthy, super talented, and he has the power to pick and choose the kind of roles he wants. He doesn't need an acting gig to get a pay cheque. He certainly doesn't need an oscar to prove his worth. All you have to do is look at the stats.
If you have no idea about who he is, or the movies he's starred in i'll just run through a couple. The Aviator, The Departed-one of my favourite films, Catch me if you can-one of my all time favourites, and last but not least The Titanic, which broke box office records, and was the highest grossing film of all time for quite some years. Titanic was a worldwide sensation and picked up eleven Oscars. It made Leo an international super star and gave him the platform to excel as an actor.
Now I think the Wolf of Wall Street could have been half an hour shorter, they could have wrapped up sooner. But overall I think it was a fantastic film. But Leo's performance was to me, better than the film itself. For me he had to win ....there was no other option. In years to come no one will care to remember the lines spoken in Dallas Buyers Club. But, people will remember the many classic one liners from the Wolf of Wall Street. And boy did Leo deliver them well. I can't imagine anyone delivering those lines better, besides Al Pacino who's trademark is belting out classic one liners in movies. "Say hello to Leo Oscars!"
Leo once again, was grossly overlooked and passed up for Matthew Mcconaughey, whom despite his good looks played an unattractive diseased HIV -AIDS patient given just 30 days to live. Everything about the movie and Matt was the opposite to what was produced with the Wolf of Wall Street.
Matt's film was low budget, it did not ignite the box office, though got more than it's return with a paltry five million dollar budget. I'm sure it will gross some more with Matt's win. But like I said. Matt didn't look good. He played ugly.
This is all contradictory to the Wolf of Wall street. Leo as always was handsome and dapper in his suits. The film had a much larger budget, and was a box office smash.
But the fact that Leo's performance was outstanding did not matter to the Oscar voters. He was still overlooked, for someone who I don't think was better in his role. The bottom line is, I don't think Matt deserved it more than Leo! I think Leo was better!
I have a theory. And, I'm not saying Matt is not a damn good actor, because he is! With his latest role/s...and, by the way, I think Matt was a bit part show stealer in the Wolf of Wall Street. Matt has shown that he can be cutting edge, and not just play the romantic comedic roles that he's been given much of throughout his career.
But, Leo was captivating, commanding, charismatic, and simply outstanding in his role. Many can relate to the lines in which he spoke. Yet he was overlooked. I believe, and I am convinced, that it is because Leo is too good looking for the Oscar voters to take him seriously. Yes, that's what I believe.
The only hope of Leo ever winning an Oscar is to do what Matt did; take a low budget role. Play an ugly character, maybe also a huge pay cut. Pretty boys, are not taken seriously in Hollywood. They are there for one reason, to bring in revenue and make women swoon. No one cares about their acting skills.
I have another theory...LEO WILL NEVER WIN AN OSCAR! If he can't win for this performance, then he never will. 50 CENT HAS MORE CHANCE OF WINNING AN OSCAR THAN LEO! LIFE IS SIMPLY NOT FAIR. THE BEST DON'T ALWAYS WIN! JUSTICE IS NOT ALWAYS SERVED!
Now Below I decided to join in the fun...cos if you can't laugh in this fucking life then there is no point in life at all.
